What to do, where to stay, and where to eat in Hong Kong

Hong Kong moves at an accelerated tempo and to a frenzied modern beat; everyone always seems to be rushing here—often to buy something at one of the many slick, futuristic shopping malls, or to meet someone at one of the myriad chic, glassed-in restaurants and cocktail bars. Amid the contemporary chaos, though, are glimpses of old-world tranquillity: incense-wreathed Taoist temples; hotel lobbies serving English high tea; remote walking trails; graceful tai chi practitioners in city parks. The city’s relatively small size (just seven million people), superb public transportation system, cheap taxis, and bilingual signage make it a cinch to navigate.
