Set farther north than the city’s other downtown hotels, this glittering high-rise is separate from the madding crowd (although that’s temporary—a burgeoning gateway district is fast sprouting around it). The peaceful lobby, with its dramatic mod chandelier and floating staircase, is a perfect place to lounge in front of the fireplace with a sundowner; the 160 sleekly furnished rooms, with café au lait-colored walls, velvety fabrics in shades of cream and sage, and zebrawood-paneled cabinets, are equally comfy. Shoji doors in the spacious marble bathrooms allow you to gaze out the window from your tub—all the more reason to request a room with a view of Lake Union or of the skyline.

Tip: Forgo the pricey breakfasts at the on-site restaurant, and instead grab coffee and a pastry from the Starbucks/Whole Foods next door.

Room to Book: If you’re splurging on a Junior Suite, unit 10 has the best views of the Space Needle and Downtown.
