Set dramatically on a sheer precipice 100 feet above the Indian Ocean, the Ritz-Carlton quite literally rises above other Jimbaran resorts. More than 190 acres play host to four freshwater pools, tennis courts, an 18-hole putting course, a dozen restaurants, and a private slice of beach (accessed by an elevator set into the cliff). The 368 rooms and villas are traditional in design, with thatched and tile roofing, carved wooden Balinese doors, and Indonesian antiques. The property’s best selling point, however, is its Thermes Marins spa, which has the world’s largest aquatonic sea pool; floating in its waters brings guests through 12 different jet-streamed hydro-massage stations (and results in utter wet-noodle relaxation). The one downside to staying here is the resort’s remoteness; nothing is within walking distance.

Tip: Since there are so many amenities, the Ritz is a good place to start your Bali vacation. If you’ve had a long flight from the U.S. or Europe, check in for a day or two to recover from jet lag and unwind before moving on.

Room to book: Rooms 2335–2347 have uninterrupted ocean views.
