The minimalist white travertine lobby of the Room Mate Alicia hotel, on Madrid’s Plaza de Santa Ana, announces its overall aesthetic: high style on an intimate scale. A curlicue staircase rising through the space leads to 34 pastel-hued rooms accented with bold color. Blond-wood headboards contrast with the baby blue walls and coral throws. The two duplex suites have the same chic yet comfortable look, but with more space—terraces look out on the leafy square, and each comes with its own plunge pool.
