A London visit without Indian food is unthinkable, and this centrally located (and affordable) spot is ideal for pre- and post-theater gorging. Each month, the restaurant’s menu highlights different regions of India (Calcutta, Coorg, Kerala), as well as a month of cuisine from Pakistan. The food almost never disappoints: chefs who grew up cooking at home in India turn out fresh, tasty, and colorfully presented feasts. Start with samosas filled with warm and spicy cauliflower or chicken tikkas, then snack on warm flat or puffed breads (naan, paratha, roti) while you await your entrée of prawn curry with tomatoes, onions, and coconut, or lamb stew with peas, yogurt, and cloves. While the chow is satisfyingly homey, the décor is contemporary chic: hardwood floors, industrial hanging lamps, sparkling glassware, and red leather ottoman seats. An impressive wine list and specialty cocktails including the Golden Gleam (cognac, Grand Marnier, and orange and lemon juice) round out this mini-trip to the former British colony.

Insider Tip: Try a three-course meal from the featured region of your choice.
