Volunteers maintain this intimate, peaceful haven that features a 12-foot waterfall, dozens of plants and trees (including Indian laurel fig, purple leaf plum, and Japanese maple), streams, and a koi pond, all here to honor Phoenix’s sister city, Himeji, Japan. Open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and closed during the summer, this sanctuary is perfect for strolling or picnicking. A highlight: the garden hosts formal tea ceremonies on the second Saturday of the month. Reservations are required; the fee includes tea and sweets served in the on-site teahouse.
