CNN Center Tour
When R. E. "Ted" Turner bought WJRJ-Atlanta, Channel 17 in 1970, he laid the foundation for today's Cable News Network—the news organization still headquartered in Atlanta but known around the globe. Visitors can get a behind-the-scenes look at the workings of the CNN studios with an hour-long walking tour (run daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.). The tour takes in a recording studio (and the technology used to film the headlines and weather reports every day), and also the Overlook, an observation area with a bird's-eye view of the goings-on in the CNN newsroom.
Tip: The walking tour involves negotiating eight flights of stairs. Anyone needing an elevator should advise the tour staff in advance.
Admission: $12 adults; $11 seniors (65 and up); $9 children (under 18)
